I'm trying to work out what's best for me, watercolour or acrylic paint. I would love to do stuff like Lora-Zombie does, want to do all the dripping and splatter effects.
How do you get your acrylics to stay dry for long enough to do that?
I'm just beginning to use them in my painting class and it's damned frustrating... There's no time to blend. Do you use Golden open acrylics? I use the Liquitex Slow-Dri blending medium, but it makes things glossy and still dries too fast.
There's something that you can buy called a retardant and it makes acrylic paint similar to oil paint in the way that it makes it stay wet longer as well as gives the paint a more shinier sheen, try finding some at your local art store. Helps with paintings such as this.
lol, i feel your pain! I had that problem in beginning painting.
try mixing in gel mediums, like gloss heavy gel or gloss super heavy gel. it thickens the paint and keeps it wet much longer than the slow dri stuff. Plus, your paints retain their color very nicely.

What do you reckon would be best?

Any tips are greatly appreciated!
